Launch of Workplace Health Program in December 2013

As part of our firm's initiative to enhance quality of our workplace, the Workplace Health Program was launched in December 2013.  A series of health related activities have been planned and once a month, all staff will come together for a health related activity. These activities include stress management talks, health screening, yoga, kick boxing, sushi-making, etc. 

In the coming months till the end of 2014, our staff can look forward to talks on mental resilience, tension relief, archery, self defense course, wall climbing and street soccer.

Health Talk: Building Psychological Resilience

New Year's Eve Office Party in December 2004

We have organised a new year's eve office gathering at our new premise on 31 December 2004.  Existing and ex-staff  have also come together and participated in our firm's donation drive in contributing to the Singapore Red Cross Society for the relief efforts in relation to the devastating tsunamis occurred on 26 December 2004.

MHC & Associates, DFK is granted Recognised Knowledge Partner status by CPA Australia in March 2014

At MHC, we place staff's professional development as a top priority and have developed our own in-house training program that caters to both staff developments needs and also the firm's business needs.  We are pleased to announce that our firm has been achieved the Recognised Knowledge Partners status with CPA Australia through to 2017.  This means that our staff will have the benefit of receiving recognition for the practical experience of the CPA program, which streamlines progression to CPA status.  For those who have already attained their CPA status, it will be easier for them to demonstrate their Continuing Professional Development obligations.

10th Anniversary Ceremony for NTU Professional Attachment Programme, October 2000

In appreciation of our firm's participation in the professional attachment training programme in which we provide on the job training to accountancy undergraduates from Nanyang Technological University, our Partner, Ms Cheong Kum Foong received an award on our firm's behalf from the Guest-of-Honour, His Excellency Mr S R Nathan, President of the Republic of Singapore during the 10th Anniversary Ceremony for Professional Attachment organised by the University on 20 October 2000.

DFK International 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Partners's Conference, November 2001

The DFK International 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Partners' Conference was held at Westin Convention Centre, Singapore from 31 October to 3 November 2001.  It was attended by 38 delegates from 12 countries.  There were active participation and valuable contributions from all the delegates during the conference.

SEMINARS CONDUCTED

Government Incentives and Schemes, November 2012

A half day seminar on “Government Incentives and Schemes” held on 28 November 2012 provided the participants with the understanding on how they can benefit from the Productivity and Innovation Credit Scheme, Global Company Partnership Programme and Innovation Capability Voucher Scheme. 

The seminar was organised by Institute of Certified Accountants of Singapore and supported by DFK International members firm in Singapore comprising MHC & Associates, DFK, JK Medora & Co., Ng, Lee & Associates – DFK and PG Wee Partnership LLP.  The event received overwhelming response with over 200 participants attended the seminar.

The guest speakers included Ms Joan Fuan, Tax Specialist (Small Corporations - Corporate Tax Division) of Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, Mr Chan Teck Meng, Manager (Alliance & Partnership Division, Customer Services Group) of IE Singapore and Mr Culgan Soh, Manager (Technology Innovation Division) of SPRING Singapore.

 

Liberalisation of Trading and Distribution in China, January 2005

A half day seminar on “Liberalisation of Trading and Distribution in China" held on 15 January 2005 provided the participants with an introduction to the New Rule from the People's Republic of China Ministry of Commerce - Circular 8 Administrative Measure for the Foreign Investment in the Commercial Sector.  The guest speaker was Mr Richard Huang, a member of the China Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Update on Changes of Corporate Governance in Singapore, November 2003

A half day seminar on “Update on Changes of Corporate Governance in Singapore" held on 20 November 2003 provided the participants with an update on the changes in the corporate governance of Singapore.  The speakers included Mr Cheong Mun Hong and Ms Cheong Kum Foong of MHC & Associates, DFK and Mr Frank Jiang of Acceptor Professional Directors Pte Ltd.

 

2002 Singapore Budget, May 2002

A half day seminar on “2002 Singapore Budget” held on 18 May 2002 provided the participants with an insight into the recommended changes to the taxation system and its impact on businesses and individuals.  The speakers included Mrs Tang See Tha of MHC & Associates, DFK and Mr Yee Fook Hong of Ng, Lee & Associates - DFK.

 

Update on Singapore Accounting Standards, April 2002

A full day seminar on “Update on Singapore Accounting Standards” held on 12 April 2002 provided the participants with an update of certain recent developments in Singapore Accounting Standards issued by the ICPAS.  The speakers included Mr Cheong Mun Hong and Ms Cheong Kum Foong of MHC & Associates, DFK; Mr Francis Chua and Mr Steven Teo of Ng, Lee & Associates - DFK; and Dr Ernest Kan of Deloitte & Touche (as our guest speaker).

 

Staying in Control - Managing Your Business Through Accounting and Financial Information, January 2002

A full day seminar on "Staying  in Control - Managing Your Business Through  Accounting  and Financial Information"  was held on 16 January 2002.  This seminar provided non-accounting and non-financial participants with the knowledge and skills in interpreting the accounting and financial information with respect to their businesses.  The guest speaker was Mr Fung Chee Kong (a CPA and freelance lecturer).

 

Tax Planning - Individuals and Partnership, Overview of Corporate Taxation in Singapore, December 2001

A full day seminar on "Tax Planning - Individuals and Partnership, Overview of Corporate Taxation  in Singapore" held on 5  December  2001 provided participants with the knowledge of individual tax  planning and the understanding of the Singapore corporate tax structure.  The guest speaker was Mr Steven Chew (CPA).

 

Estate Planning in Singapore, December 2001

A  half day seminar on  "Estate Planning in Singapore" held  on 19 December 2001 provided participants with the knowledge of estate duties and tools of estate planning in Singapore.  The speakers included Mr Cheong Mun Hong and guest speakers, Mr Foo Teck Leong (CPA) and Mr Ho Chee Tong of Chris Chong & C T Ho Partnership.
 

Singapore Incorporated Companies vs Offshore Companies, December 1999

A half day seminar on "Singapore Incorporated Companies vs Offshore Companies" held on 4 December 1999 provided participants with an overview of the companies incorporated in Singapore and offshore companies.  The speakers included Mr Cheong Mun Hong, Ms Cheong Kum Foong and guest speakers, Mr Ned W. Southerland of Acceptor Professional Directors (Pte) Ltd and Mr Chris Chong of Chris Chong & CT Ho Partnership.

Malaysian New Exchange Control Measures, October1998

A half day seminar on "Malaysian New Exchange Control Measures" held on 3 October 1998 provided participants with an overview of the changes and clarifications of the Malaysian new exchange control measures.  The speakers included Mr Cheong Mun Hong, Ms Cheong Kum Foong, Mrs Tang See Tha and guest speaker, Mr Terence Lim of Colin Ng & Partners.

Singapore Qualification Programme ("Singapore QP")

Our partners, Mr Cheong Mun Hong and Ms Cheong Kum Foong are delighted to be contributing to the talent development of Singapore's Accountancy sector through facilitating and sharing their technical and working experience in the Singapore QP workshops.  The following workshops was facilitated by our partners since the launch of Singapore QP in July 2013:

Besides facilitating the workshops, Ms Cheong Kum Foong is also the Singapore QP examination marker since 2013 and Technical Reviewer fpr Financial Reporting in 2014.

 

  

Certified Financial Planner Course

We have conducted lectures for some subjects for the course leading to the Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”) certification.  The topics we have covered are “Understanding Company Law”, “Income Tax Planning” and “Estate Planning”.

 

We have also conducted Continuing Education programmes for CFP.  The topics we have covered are “Minimising on Individual’s Income Tax” and “Estate Planning Made Simple”.
